Baby Boy Shower

I had the opportunity to make this cake for a baby shower being thrown by an old friend from high school...Thanks Jasmyn! She requested a two-tiered round. Bottom layer: Chocolate w/ Strawberry filling decorated in brown w/ green polka dots, and the Top Layer: Red Velvet w/ Chocolate Mousse filling in green with brown polka dots. I hope they like it...both in looks and flavor!

Country Themed Slumber Party

This was a fun one. This was for a girls-night-out of going to a country concert (for Kenny Chesney, hence the 'KC') and afterward a slumber party. This was my first attempt at a bed cake. It was a Vanilla/Chocolate/Vanilla layered cake w/ Cheesecake filling covered in almond buttercream and decorated w/ Marshmallow fondant. The pillows were RiceKrispies and the headboard was granola bars.

Wedding Cake....Sort of....

This was actually a cake I made for my sisters' co-workers wedding. I made her Bridal Shower cake (which I think is a little too raunchy to be posted), and she requested me again for her wedding cake. In doing this cake, I realized just how much of an amatuer I really am. She asked for a 3-tiered Chocolate cake covered all in black fondant! Yikes! I tried my darndest, but with the humidity in our house at that time (August) and the amount of food coloring that had to go in it, it just didn't work out and at the absolute LAST minute, I opted for piped swirls in White Buttercream. Ugh. It was a good cake though, and ultimately, if a cake doesn't taste good...what's the point?! The cake was Chocolate pudding dense cake with raspberry filling, almond filling, and chocolate mousse filling. Covered in Chocolate Buttercream and decorated w/ White almond buttercream. The flowers are Cherry Blossoms out of Royal Icing. Here's a few shots of the progression and the finished product:

Ladies Luncheon

Finally...a cake to make! Thank you to my sis-n-law Liz who asked me to make a cake for a get together/luncheon in the theme of a tea party/jane austen-esque. This was a simple two layer 8in round with the top layer a vanilla pudding white cake and the bottom a bakery recipe chocolate and a thick filling of Oreo Buttercream. It was crumb-coated in a vanilla buttercream and covered with Marshmallow Fondant. The decals was just store bought pre-made fondant. This was a cake redemption for me, due to my last fiasco with making a wedding cake covered with black fondant (Yikes!) so THANK YOU Liz...I had a lot of fun doing this one!

Healthier??

My current craving...Carrot Cake. (Say that five times, fast) This was a 'Doctored Up' white box cake mix, then I added whatever I had in the fridge that I thought would be good in it: Pineapple bits, walnuts, carrots (of course), cinnamon, nutmeg, a small instant vanilla pudding mix... However, I'm ashamed to admit that I used just canned frosting. The craving was calling...what could I do?

Baby Shower

This past Saturday my sister had her baby shower. I decided to try out some new 'Cake-Cups' and they were a hit. I used a special bakery mix, Chocolate, with extra whipped Vanilla Buttercream (home-made, of course).

21st Birthday

A favorite of my sisters boyfriends is the Stewie Griffin character from Family Guy. Thus the reason for the cake. This was a 12x12 dense Swiss Chocolate Fudge cake with chocolate frosting for the base and the same flavor cake for the head with Almond Buttercream.
