A favorite of my sisters boyfriends is the Stewie Griffin character from Family Guy. Thus the reason for the cake. This was a 12x12 dense Swiss Chocolate Fudge cake with chocolate frosting for the base and the same flavor cake for the head with Almond Buttercream.

Thanksgiving Cupcakes
Every year for Thanksgiving, we all get 'assignments' on what to bring. Since there are so many of us, it gets kind of interesting as to what we are asked to bring. For example: my cousin Mandy was asked to bring 3 cans of olives. I know, weird. Anyway, for my task: Creative Cupcakes, and yes, that is exactly how it was typed on the email I got. Well, I wasn't able to take a good picture of them before people dug into them, but here's what I did.

Stacked/Tiered Cakes
This was my attempt at 'stacking'. I made this for our Easter family party and used the same technique with the basket weave and flowers. This was a 8in round double bottom and 6in round double top.

Basket Weave
This was my first attempt at the basket weave and Royal Icing Flowers. This is an oval, two-tiered, coconut cake with coconut filling and almond buttercream. All the flowers (and birds)were piped using Royal Icing (very hard and crunchy).

Clown Cake...
This was a practice cake. 8in round, lemon cake with lemon buttercream. Since having cakes every week was getting, well...pretty FATTY, I made this one for my neices Lexi and Maddie, and nephew Payton.

The Small Print...
I love cake...I mean come on, who doesn't? But I have recently discovered that not only eating them brings me joy but making and decorating them does as well! So I've taken some classes, will be taking more, and am starting this fun hobby of cake decorating. I am still very much a novice, an amatuer, prematurely talented, but I love it and if you ever find yourself needing a cake, I may just be your gal. Enjoy!
